Where imagination sparkles and learning feels magical

Week 1 : Welcome to Winter Village

We began Winter Wonderland Week by introducing children to the concept of winter through the storybook “Snowy Place.” Through storytelling and discussion, children explored what winter feels like and looks like. Sensory play followed, using ice trays and coconut flakes to represent snow. Children experienced textures that were cold, melting, soft, and snowy, and some even used their imagination to pretend they were making ice cream. These simple experiences allowed children to explore science concepts and sensory awareness in a meaningful and playful way.

Exploring Winter Through Play

Throughout the week, children engaged in a wide variety of winter-themed activities designed to support creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor development. Activities included:

  • Painting igloos for Arctic animals
  • Decorating houses in our Winter Village
  • Rescuing animals trapped in ice
  • Sensory play with “fake snow” made from flour and baby oil

Children also expressed their individuality by designing their own winter clothes. They chose items such as sweaters, hats, socks, and scarves, and decorated them freely using crayons, colored pencils, paper, and various art materials and celebrating creativity without limits.

The Highlight: Winter Party Day

The most anticipated day of the week was our Winter Party, a joyful celebration that brought all of our winter learning together. Children refueled at the Winter Snack Bar with hot chocolate, orange juice, water, and cookies before heading off to explore the Winter Clothing Shop and play areas.

As the excitement grew, “snow” began to fall then created with sprinklers to mimic snowfall from the sky. Children enjoyed skiing down the mountain, sliding with buckets, and playing enthusiastically with water balloons, filling the day with laughter, movement, and pure joy.

Winter Wonderland Journey Book

Every day, each child has their own Winter Wonderland Journey Book. In this book, children draw or write about their day what they enjoyed, what they played with, or anything they would like to share. The book goes home every day so children can tell their stories and experiences to their parents

This journey book captures moments from their day that they may not yet be able to explain fully in words. Through drawings and simple storytelling, children express their thoughts, feelings, and memories in their own way. Each day, they continue adding to their book, gradually building a meaningful record of their Winter Wonderland experience.

A Week to Remember

Winter Wonderland Camp was more than just a seasonal theme, it was a celebration of imagination, curiosity, and togetherness. Through play, children explored new experiences, built confidence, and created beautiful memories with their friends.

At Daisy, learning is always joyful, meaningful, and magical, no matter the season 🤍
