Week 2: Christmas Celebration

Throughout the week, children explored Christmas through meaningful, play-based experiences. One of the key symbols of Christmas is Santa, and our learning journey unfolded across five days.

We began by introducing Santa’s helpers, the elves, who work in Santa’s present factory. When the elves mysteriously disappeared, the children took on the role of helpers themselves, searching together to find them. The elves were eventually discovered resting in a garden tent, tired after making presents for so long. This activity encouraged imagination, teamwork, and problem-solving.

On the following day, children searched for Santa and his reindeer and added them to a Christmas collection book, supporting storytelling, memory, and language development.

Midweek, Daisy transformed into a Christmas Market where children learned how Christmas is celebrated around the world. Each child received Daisy Money to use at the market. They practiced reading menus, checking prices, making choices, and paying for items. Through this experience, children explored early concepts of exchange, money use, estimation, and problem-solving when funds were limited.

Cultural inspiration continued with an Opera House corner, where children could perform music or movement inspired by different countries, and a book exchange corner inspired by Icelandic traditions, where children shared and exchanged books with friends.

Christmas Party

Christmas Day was celebrated with a joyful Christmas Party. Children enjoyed a movie experience at Daisy Cinema, complete with tickets, snacks, and choosing their own seats before watching Casper the Friendly Ghost. After the movie, children played games, made pizza together, and shared a special Christmas lunch.

The week ended with Giving and Sharing Day, where children baked cookies to take home for their families and shared small snacks or gifts with friends, learning the true meaning of generosity and kindness.

Week 2 of Winter Wonderland Camp was filled with joy, imagination, and meaningful learning experiences, creating warm memories and celebrating the spirit of Christmas in an inclusive and thoughtful way.
